Unfortunately they didn't make sure that it was vista 64 compatible, just the regular 32 bit. An the problem isn't corrected. Reboot the PC after installation of the new driver without fail. Please use the Conexant audio driver software for Windows XP to fix the issue with microphone and headset in Vista Business. This audio driver is available in the HP site. Yours was the simplest and most complete solution for me. This really pisses me off not having sound for the last 3 months i have triend every driver i can get my hands on and nothing. which i don't like..and it's kinda slowing things down...

The SPDIF works but it does not pass thought the DTS and Dolby Digital from a DVD to my home stereo. I have been trying every audio driver i can get ahold of to see if it will work but to with no success. Realtek is publishing driver updates almost every month and of course does not want to pay Microsoft to have their drivers signed every month.

How to install a driver manually? The reason the first installation will fail is Vista's driver security system. Based on your suggestion I went into control panel, clicked on the speaker icon, up and deleted the Conexant Driver, to complete the deletion, I had to reboot.
