Most pro grade piezos will handle 35 volt transients, and 28 volts continuous, which are 150 watts and 100 watts into 8 ohms respectively. However, the problem I have is basically that the treble content of the signal is totally uncontrollable thanks to the tweeters which kind of defeats the purpose of having them in A device known as a phasing plug, which has a series of different length passages through it is often used to accomplish this, but it's never an exact science. Compression Driver Car Audio There is usually little to control the dispersion of a tweeter other than the front surface of the cabinet in which they are mounted.
At low freqs, the woofer gets most (or all, if the piezo impedance is really high.) A horn on the other hand is really just a small speaker. They are used as midrange and tweeter drivers in high power sound reinforcement loudspeakers, and in reflex or folded-horn loudspeakers in megaphones and public address systems. Their diaphragm is very robust and weather resistant. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/multi-way/3005-piezo-vs-voice-coil-tweeters.html Unless you have cab design and experimenting as a hobby (with it's associated expense account...), I would suggest that you may be better served by finding a cab which already has

While any high power PA application is more surely going to call for horns and compression drivers, studio monitors and stereo speakers tend to rely more on tweeters.

What makes the costs get expensive in a multi-way active crossed over system,is the many good quality but expensive amps, many expensive woofers. And the rest of it shouldn't cost you more than his comment is here The absence of voice coil inductance, its mostly linear magnetic field and its extremely light diaphragm all contribute to exceptional sound quality. While it has clear benefits, it also introduces additional dampening and potential long-term issues related to fluid thickening, and many top designs avoid ferrofluid. It's the entire package responsible for its sounding bad, not the tweeters. Compression Driver Horn Design
Piezos are usually used along with woofers that have little to no midrange, and it's the lack of mids that makes the high frequencies seem too strident. Thus if a piezo and a conventional woofer were wired in parallel, the piezo gets most of the power at high freqs. They are more expensive to make but are much cleaner sounding and much more efficient than a piezo. :) gillo04-08-2007, 09:51 PMWith respect this artical is giving us the difference between http://vocollectapp.com/compression-driver/compression-drivers-uk.html Something like the Mc Kenzie,Celestion or Fane bullet tweeters with a high pass filter in series to prevent switch on transients from blowing them.
Then the series crossover cap should be in front of the 22 ohm shunt. Compression Driver Protection Planar Ribbon (planar-magnetic, ribbon, magnetostatic, isodynamic) Planar ribbon tweeters have been experiencing a surge of popularity in the high-performance market. I personally don't like piezos that much but I admit they are simple to implement.
There are side effects to this as well.

The differences between the two are: *A piezo works by vibrating at very high frequecies. A device known as a phasing plug, which has a series of different length passages through it is often used to accomplish this, but it's never an exact science. DOING THIS IS EASIER THAN POWERING A READY MADE COMPRESSION DRIVER AND HORN, CROSSING IT OVER AND EQING CORRECTLY? My experience is that even fairly cheap coil based tweeters sound better than nearly all piezos though the absolute need to have a crossover makes them much more expensive My Band
